Conformation

A conformation dog show is a show in which a judge, familiar with a specific breed or group, evaluates individual purebred dogs for how well the dogs conform to the breed type, the breed type is described in a breed's individual breed standard. All breed standards will be the same as AKC standards except for Toy and Mini Aussies.

Such shows are useful to breeders as a means of evaluating dogs for breeding purposes. A conformation championship is generally considered a reasonably objective indication of merit, as it indicates that the dog has been found to be a superior example of its breed by a number of different judges on a number of separate occasions. Many breeders even consider championship a prerequisite for breeding.

Show Ring Rules

All dogs must be checked in during allotted times provided in the show premium.

Exhibitors are responsible for being ringside for their class. The ring will not be held past the second call for the class. Once a class is closed all dogs not present will be marked absent. Missed classes will not be refunded.

Exhibitors may hand stack their dogs.

Squeakers and Clickers are not allowed in the show ring.

Bait may be used, but is never to be thrown in the ring. If dropped it must be picked up.

Exhibitors observed throwing baiting or seeding the ring will be dismissed from their class.

One small comb or brush per exhibitor is the only grooming tools allowed in the ring.

Clean up after your dog in the ring. Supplies will be available ringside.

Judging

Judges decisions are final.

Dogs will be evaluated per their breed standard. All judges will be given breed standards for each breed. Breed Standards are the same as AKC expect the Mini and Toy Aussies.

All Judges reserve the right to disqualify anyone for the following:

Owner/Handler misconduct
Dogs growling, snapping or fighting
Altering of nose, eye or lip pigment color
Gluing or taping ears to alter their natural placement
Excessive products on the dog

Automatic Disqualifications

Snapping or bitting in the show ring

Cryptorchidism

Bad Bites

Judges may excuse handlers for the following reasons

The handler cannot control his/her dog

The handler interfering with another competitor or dog

The handler who abuses his/her dog in the ring

Bitches which appears so attractive to males as to be a disturbing element.

Class Divisions
Puppy Division
3 months up to 6 months
6 months up to 9 months
9 months up to 12 months
First place of each sex of each class moves into Puppy Best of Breed competition.
The Best of Breed moves on to Best in Show Puppy.
A Best in Show puppy and Reserve Best in Show will be selected.
This is as far as a puppy can go. No dog under 12 months may earn points towards an adult title. However, we do award puppy titles.

Adult division
Freshman (1 year to 2 years)
Sophomore (2 years to under 3 years)
Junior (3 years up to 7 years)
Senior (7 years and older)
You may add your dog to the Owner/Handler/Breeder (OHB) on our entry forms. If you have more than one in a class, the Owner/Handler/Breeder (OHB) must be in the ring with one of the entries.

Title Categories
A class dog is defined as a dog that has not earned a Championship title as of the day of the show.
Dogs that have earned a Certificate of Merit are still shown as a class dog. Class dogs show in their perspective class and move up accordingly.
Champion/Grand Champion dogs show in Best of Breed, if they win Best of Breed they go on to Best of Show.
Select Dogs are recognized by the judge as the top quality of their sex after the first and second of each class has been awarded.
Select dogs continue to earn points towards their championship.
If a dog is entered in or shown in the wrong class no points will be awarded.
1st and 2nd place class winners of each sex of each breed move forward to compete for best of the breed.
Best and reserve male and female move up to the Best of Breed class.
Champions/Grand Champions enter the Best of Breed class only.
The dogs winning Best of Breed or Reserve Best of Breed go on to compete in Best in Show.
The Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show will then be selected.

Championships will only be awarded to dogs that have won Best of Sex with competition.

Grand Champion 2	200 additional points	GCH2 repeat Grand Champion level showing to at least 6 different judges
Grand Champion 3	200 additional points	GCH3 repeat Grand Champion level showing to at least 6 different judges

Puppy titles will have a P in front of the title abbreviation.

Owner/Handler/Breeder (OHB) points will only be awarded if entered as OHB

Only the highest point level earned per show count towards Titles. Example: A dog that wins first place and the best of sex would receive 10 points and not 15

Example: a Dog that has achieved a Certificate of Merit (CM) only needs an additional 50 points to reach the Championship (CH) title, a Champion dog only needs an additional 150 points to reach Grand Champion (GCH) title and so on.
